WHAT CAUSES A LOSS OF APPETITE?

If you've recently lowered the amount of physical exercise you do, you'll find that you might feel less hungry as well. Also, some medicines can cause a loss of appetite.

The solution? Increase the amount you exercise physically, and you'll find yourself eating better as well.

SHOULD I CUT BACK ON SALT - IS SALT HEALTHFUL?

The human body does need salt, no doubt about it. Your body needs sodium, and common salt (sodium chloride) is the way most people get it. However, while normal amounts of sodium keep your muscles, blood and nerves healthy, an intake of too much sodium can lead to (among other things) an increase in blood pressure.

You probably take in a lot more sodium than you need. There's no need to cut back too much if you're young, but by all means vary your diet - try using herbs, spices and lemon juice to season your food besides salt.

A way to counter the adverse effects of too much sodium is to increase your intake of potassium. Sources of potassium include green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, bananas and potatoes.
