THE FIFTH EXERCISE: A CHINESE MASSAGE TECHNIQUE..

This exercise is a very important ancient Chinese massage technique that benefits all the organs of the thorax and abdomen and directly manipulates the spinal column...

This exercise begins in a sitting position - sit comfortably on the floor with your legs crossed. Your back should be straight, and your hands resting comfortably on your knees.

STEP 1:

Now make two fists with your hands and place them on either side of the spinal column. Begin to pound your fists GENTLY as far up and down the spinal column as you can go. Make sure that you DO NOT hit the spine itself, but only the area to the left and right of it.

STEP 2:

Now, breathe in deeply while turning your head to the left slowly, as far as it can go. This movement manipulates the spine. Keep pounding your fists up and down your back. When your head is completely turned to the left, your lungs should be full.

STEP 3:

Now EXHALE while turning your head slowly to the right. Keep pounding your fists on your back. When your head is completely turned to your right, your lungs should be empty.

Look at the images below, they show how you turn your head from left to right and back again, while inhaling and exhaling and gently pounding up and down each side of the spine..

Keep turning your head from left to right - breathe in when you turn your face to the left, until your lungs are full, breathe out when you turn your face to the right, until your lungs are empty. Keep pounding your fists up and down your back as your turn your head.

Count one 'left and right' turn of your head as ONE repetition. Do between 5 to 10.
