A Tai Chi and Kung-Fu Exercise Program for Good Health, well-being and preventing disease..

How and When to do the Exercises:

This page contains crucial information about how and when to do this Tai Chi and Kung Fu exercise program. Most important is correct breathing - this is crucial to ANY Tai Chi or King Fu exercise program or system. Equally important is where and when you choose to do these exercises. Read on for more information...

HOW TO DO THE EXERCISES (Some Tips):

Breathing: Firstly, when you do the exercises, you should breathe deeply.

Draw the breath down into your stomach - when you breathe in this way, it is not your chest that should expand, but your stomach. In this way you exercise your diaphragm.

Draw the air down, breathe deep - then also empty your lungs fully. The air you breathe is part of the 'power-source' that runs your body - breath deeply and you will rarely feel tired.

Grace in Movement: The second point is grace in movement - when you do the exercises, your movements should be relaxed, even graceful, one movement blending into the next, almost as if you were moving underwater.

Concentrate on the movements so fully that your awareness of your very surroundings decreases.

This is the key to doing the exercises right.

WHEN TO DO THE EXERCISES:

The exercises are best done either in the morning, after rising, or in the evening, before dinner. The exercises are best done on an empty stomach, as this enables you to concentrate better, and also makes the exercises more beneficial in exercising the vital organs. The exercises require little space to do them in - try to do them at a time and place when you have some quiet, so that your concentration is on the exercises alone.

These are not merely exercises in the western sense - they are also an attuning of the body to the universal force, a form of 'meditation in action' - as such, the area you choose to do these exercises in should have the same attributes as a place you would choose to meditate in.

"Health of mind, body and spirit - that is the focus, the purpose of these Chinese exercises."
