Touching the sky

A Tai Chi and Kung-Fu Exercise Program for Good Health, well-being and preventing disease..
Most of the Tai Chi and Kung Fu exercises in this program develop and strengthen not one but several of the body's internal systems and organs. Read on, below..
The Actual Exercises:
THE FIRST EXERCISE: TOUCHING THE SKY..
This exercise expands the chest cavity and exercises the lungs and diaphragm, giving you a larger breath capacity and greater endurance. It also stimulates and exercises several internal organs as well.
STEP 1:
Stand with your back straight, and your feet comfortably apart. Your hands should be relaxed, at your sides.

STEP 2:
Now, breathing IN deeply, turn your palms outward, and moving them in a circular motion, slowly bring them above your head.

You continue to breathe in all through this step.
STEP 3:
At the end of your inhalation, your hands should be above your head, and your fingers interlocked.

STEP 4:
Holding your breath for a moment, turn your palms upward so that they are now towards the sky.

STEP 5:
Now, while exhaling, slowly push your hands upwards - at the same time, raise your heels off the floor until you are on the balls of your feet. The effect should be of your whole body stretching towards the sky.
IMPORTANT: You must only empty HALF of the air in your lungs in this step.

STEP 6:
Now, still exhaling, lower your hands to just above your head, and your heels to the floor, then turn your palms downward and lower your hands to your sides in a circular motion. You have now returned to the position you started the exercise in. Your lungs should be empty at the end of this movement.

You have now completed one repetition of this exercise - do between 5 and 10.
