Self Defense Training - Part Four:

Learning to use Unarmed Combat to deal with a Hostile Situation

A section on unarmed combat is an integral part of any self defense or martial arts instruction course. We concentrated on teaching you the use of concealed weapons first because we wished to give you the maximum effectiveness in a minimum of time. The unarmed combat moves that you will learn now are from several martial arts and have been included in this self defense instruction course for times when you have to defend yourself without a weapon. Unarmed Combat: An Introduction

This important Self Defense Section will teach you effective unarmed combat moves that you can use in hostile situations.

Important: You must read these previous Self Defense sections before you study this one, as they will teach you much of the basics of what you need to know to deal with a hostile situation..

  • Dealing with Fear in Combat
  • Basic Combat and Weapons
  • Medium Ranged Weapons

This Self Defense section on Unarmed Combat would perhaps better have been named miscellaneous techniques, because that's what they are. Given here are techniques that might help you get out of trouble if you're in a hostile situation, taken by surprise, and without any weapon in your hand.

"The first rule is, of course, that you should NEVER, if at all possible, be taken by surprise, or land in a hostile situation without a weapon."

Always be alert, and keep your weapons handy at ANY time when trouble might possibly arise. However, as I've already dealt with this topic in the First Self Defense section in this Series, I will not talk of it in more detail here.

Listed below are a few of the unarmed-combat moves you should know - they could help you in a difficult situation..

  • The Stamp to the Foot
  • The Back-Kick to the Shin, and Claw to Groin
  • Nukite (finger-thrust) to the Eyes
  • The 'Iron Knife' technique to the Eyes
  • A Defense against a Strangle
  • A Defense when on the Ground
